Government Shutdown

With the Oct. 16 announcement that the partial government shutdown was lifted, all furloughed Travis personnel will return to work, and all base services and functions will resume normal operations.


All but 12 civilian employees who were furloughed Oct. 1 from Travis Air Force Base were approved to return to work starting Oct.7. 

All Combined Federal Campaign activities are suspeded.
 
The following facilities on base will remain closed:
-Library
-Heritage Center

DGMC will continue to curtail elective procedures and surgeries.

All other facilities impacted by the government shutdown have returned to normal operating hours or reopened.

Base Commissary reopened Oct.7:
     - Mon - Thurs: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
     - Fri - Sat: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
     - Sunday: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Contracts:
-May enter into new contracts, or place task orders under existing contracts, to obtain supplies and services necessary to carry out or support excepted activities.
-Contractors performing under a contract that was fully obligated prior to Oct. 1 13 will continue.
-No new contracts, task orders, extensions, or options unless supporting excepted activity.

Temporary Duty
-TDY travel that began before the shutdown should, except as noted below, be terminated as safely and quickly as possible.
-TDY travel scheduled to begin after the shutdown should be canceled except:
In direct support of operations in Afghanistan or directly related to safety of life and protection of property.
Approved in writing by wing commander and only in most limited circumstances.
Personnel TDY to training or school should consult with the training function to determine whether or not the specific training has been identified as excepted or non-excepted. 
 
 
Financial Assistance
-For civilians:
-Various programs are being offered for government shutdown assistance. Please check with your financial institution about delaying payments or loan assistance programs.
-Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund:
  • Up to $1,000
  • Must be employed for atleast one year
