David Grant USAF Medical Center - Travis Fisher House

The Travis Fisher Houses are two of 65 "homes from the heart" built on military bases by the late Zachary and Elizabeth Fisher. The husband and wife industrial philanthropists generously created a foundation to help military families in need where they can stay without charge when one of its members is hospitalized.

Located on the grounds of the David Grant USAF Medical Center within a short walking distance of the hospital, the original 5,000 square foot Fisher House I and newly opened 13,000 square foot Fisher House II are designed with the comfort and atmosphere of a home, featuring single bedrooms, double rooms and suites, a large common room, dining room, fully stocked kitchen, laundry and office. Both Fisher House I & II serve to accommodate individuals undergoing medical care and provides a comfortable retreat for patient's families.

From daily meals donated by squadrons on a rotating basis, to the Combined Federal Campaign, Volunteer Appreciation Awards, annual golf tournament, Easter Egg hunt, Christmas Tree auction and Viking Challenge run, local community support for Travis Fisher House is nothing short of outstanding.

Travis Fisher House I opened in January 1994 and has served over 3,200 guests since that time. Travis Fisher House II opened in May 2014. The average occupancy rate is 100 percent on a first-come, first-serve basis for those meeting the eligibility criteria. The only primary criteria are a NEED to provide a family environment close to the patient.
