Col. John Klein, official photo, U.S. Air Force Turn your glove over
“Turn your glove over.” I was tired. And slightly annoyed. For what seemed like the thousandth time, my dad threw the baseball to me as I practiced for the spring season my sixth grade year. My legs ached from squatting into the catcher’s position over and over again. My body dragged from jumping up constantly.

Chief Master Sgt. Steve Nichols, official photo, U.S. Air Force Be ready for future challenges
Since I came to Travis in July 2016, I have seen our team accomplish so many good things. Whether it’s a massive undertaking like the airshow, the Unit Effectiveness Inspection Capstone or supporting relief efforts for four natural disasters in less than a month, we have always answered the call. I have seen you all pushed to the limits and come out the other end with a smile on your face and pride in your heart. Make no mistake, your command chief is proud of you.

Senior Master Sgt. Patrick A. Odom, Jr., official photo, U.S. Air Force CAF check yourself before you wreck yourself
In today’s Air Force and specifically the 60th Air Mobility Wing, we are continually proving there are no bounds. Therefore, Comprehensive Airman Fitness is vital for every collective Airman whether military, civilian or a family member. CAF is defined in Air Force Instruction 90-506, Comprehensive Airman Fitness, as “A holistic approach to fitness that includes the mental, physical, social and spiritual domains.” It’s important that we understand the holistic approach of CAF and our need to be fit in each domain to ensure we’re able to be balanced and resilient Airmen.

Default Air Force Logo We WILL rock you
Last month, our Secretary of Defense, Retired Gen. James “Mad Dog” Mattis, released guidance to all Department of Defense personnel reminding us that we are our nation’s “department of war.”

Chief Master Sgt. David M. Abell, official photo, U.S. Air Force Give 'em hell
In July of this year, I became the command chief master sgt. for the 621st Contingency Response Wing. After five months, I am still in awe of the capabilities, rapid response and resilience of our people. I have had the unique opportunity to watch CRW Airmen at Travis Air Force Base, California, and Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J., work seamlessly with host wing partners to build capable teams and respond to multiple crises. If this past hurricane season has taught me anything, it is that we are an unstoppable unified team.

Chief Master Sgt. Kimberly L. Reay, official photo, U.S. Air Force Learning from Gen-X, millennials to embrace change
As the holiday season begins and the year comes to a close, it is a good time to review the goals we each set in our personal and professional life. What were we looking to accomplish this year and what can we improve on? Did we take care of ourselves and our family members? What about that Airman that just needed a little extra encouragement to get over a hurdle that might have been holding them back from becoming the person you know they can be?

Col. Jeffrey Pickard, official photo, U.S. Air Force Veterans Day: You got served
Good morning, good afternoon, good day. If you’re reading this and serving our country, have served our country or have served as a member of an Airman’s family, I want to thank you for your service. Your service right now is extremely important for our country’s future.

Lt. Col. Erik Fisher, official photo, U.S. Air Force Black and yellow represent: commitment, community
Our profession is often paradoxical. We intimidate, yet we inspire. We deliver combat power to oppose our adversaries, yet also deliver hope to those in despair. I experienced such a paradox on a mission this week.

Lt. Col. Nate Flint, official photo, U.S. Air Force The Airman's responsibility to dissent
I am nearing the end of my 20-year career with the Air Force. As I prepare to walk proudly away from service to my country, I can’t help but spend a few moments reflecting on my years.

Official photo, Chief Master Sgt. Margie P. Quicanopalacios It's not about me
I was raised in Lima, Peru in a household where food was scarce, I shared a bed with three siblings and my grandmother and the clothes were hand-me-downs. I learned to appreciate my family and the little things. Although migrating to America at the age of 10 was one of the smartest moves my family made for me, the culture acclimation felt overwhelming, especially when most of my classmates only spoke English.
