Nine year old Rachael Dargan's composition about Oprah Winfrey was chosen as the winning essay on the topic of "Who do you think has contributed to African American financial growth?" The contest was sponsored by the Travis African American Heritage Committee in recognition of Black History Month and was open to anyone attending the Travis Youth Center Rachael was also presented a $100.00 Savings Bond donated by the Kappa Alpa Psi Fraternity, Vallejo-Fairfield Alumni Chapter.
