tabSpecial Announcements
BREAKING NEWS: TRICARE West Region Prime enrollees referred for specialty care from April 1 up to May 18, 2013 do not need authorization before seeking care. May is Mental Health Month: The mental health and well-being of our airman and families ensures our force is well-trained, well-equipped, and stands ready to support the full spectrum of military operations.

The Air Force Medical Service provides unique programs and services to support the mental health and well-being of airman and families to encourage healthy behaviors

Mental health issues often go undetected because of stigma. Reaching out is a sign of strength that benefits you, your fellow airmen and your family.

The Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury provides resources for screening, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders such as PTSD, depression, substance abuse, and anxiety.

Real Warriors has a list of AF-specific resources to strengthen resilience and assist in reintegration. For more information, go to: http://realwarriors.net/active/airforce/resources.php

Providing a safe environment and quality care for your emotional health is our priority. Let us serve you.

New Air Force pregnancy website offers Airmen state-of-the-art support online:  The Air Force Medical Service's Center of Excellence for Medical Multimedia has recently unveiled their latest educational and state-of-the-art website for Airmen and their families dealing with pregnancy. The "Pregnancy A to Z" website is the CEMM's 12th educational site that addresses a significant medical topic Airmen deal with frequently and can be found at www.pregnancyatoz.org.

MiCare for Kids: The Air Force Medical Service is now registering children on its web-based secure messaging health application called MiCare. MiCare allows beneficiaries to communicate securely and privately with their health care teams anywhere and anytime. The secure tool is now available to more than 70 percent of Air Force bases, with the expectation it will be fully implemented AF-wide by the end of the year. To read the whole article, click here. For more information on MiCare visit: www.afms.af.mil/MiCare.

Did you know it's also Skin Cancer Awareness Month?: Use this helpful tip when determining how to treat your skin this Spring and Summer. Grab a shot glass and fill it with sunscreen. Yes, sunscreen! That's how much sunscreen you should be applying before heading out. Learn more about skin care in "Military Doc explains how to choose and use sunscreen to avoid skin damage."

Find it all at "The Patient Mall": Located on Level 2 ("Redwoods") of DGMC and referred to by staff and patients alike as "The Patient Mall,"  this patient-centered area features the Outpatient Pharmacy and a consolidated Patient Service Center with window counters for  Admissions & Dispositions, Referral Management and TRICARE.
