Travis AFB identifies deceased Airman

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. –  An active-duty U.S. Air Force Airman from Travis Air Force Base was pronounced dead at their off-base residence June 30, 2020, in Vacaville.

The Airman has been identified as Senior Airman Zulema Gonzalez-Romero from the 60th Medical Group.

“We are deeply saddened by the recent loss of life within our Travis Air Force Base family,” said Col. Jeffrey Nelson, 60th Air Mobility Wing commander.  “We express our sympathies to those affected by this loss.”

Team Travis’ priority is to take care of the Airman’s family members (next of kin) and ensuring members of the affected unit are directed to the appropriate helping agencies as needed.

Details surrounding the death are under investigation.

“We are in close coordination with the various organizations surrounding this situation as we establish further insight,” Nelson said. “As a matter of policy, we will not release specific information due to the ongoing investigation. Please respect the family's privacy in this difficult time.”
