Airmen continue to impress me

We end our series on the Air Force Core Values with a focus on 'Excellence in All We Do.'

Team Travis is surrounded by excellence. Each week we feature one of our outstanding Airmen as the 'Warrior of the Week.'

It's impressive to see these Airmen in action and their willingness to go above and beyond to meet and exceed the Team Travis mission. The chief and I are proud to spend time honoring their efforts and contributions.

These Airmen exhibit excellence in every aspect of their lives. Many are driven to work toward higher education, committed to building strong family values and coming to work each day ready to put in 110 percent while keeping a smile on their face.

Our Air Mobility Command commander, General Duncan McNabb, spent two hours with us on Wednesday and he too is impressed; in his words "Travis is doing great things!"

Many Airmen's excellence goes unrecognized, so I encourage each of you to help recognize our star performers - the power of a simple "thank you" or "great job" is amazing.

Each of us plays a significant role in protecting this country's liberties and freedoms.

Whether you primarily work at a desk or on the flight line, without every Airman striving for excellence day in and day out, we would be hard pressed to continuously complete our mission safely and efficiently.

For an Air Force member, Excellence does not stop at the sound of 'Retreat.' In order to live up to our last core value, Airmen must keep it at the forefront of their minds with everything they pursue.

From home life, to education, to physical fitness -- being the best Airman you can be every day is all I ask.

None of us can be talented at everything, but we can all give our full effort and to me that is excellence.

Wednesday marked a very successful and fun Wingman Day.

It was incredible to see well more than 2,500 of us lined up on the flight line to complete the run as a team. I witnessed Airmen supporting those who struggled and felt the enthusiasm of all of the participants.

The day was dedicated to excellence, by highlighting our need to build teamwork, encourage friendship and camaraderie and to communicate well with each other. We demonstrate our excellence by watching out for our co-workers and stepping forward to lend a helping hand.

A few weeks ago, our Air Force Memorial was finally dedicated in Washington, D.C. The three bold and graceful spires that make up our memorial remind us of our roots.

Take the core values, Integrity First, Service Before Self and Excellence in All We Do seriously -- they, along with the men and women who follow them, are what makes our Air Force the best in the world! You make it happen through Excellence!

BE PROUD! BE SAFE!
