Retiree Activities Office

The mission of the Retiree Activities Office is to provide a continuous update of information helpful to the Air Force retirees who reside in our assigned area of responsibility. Further, to mobilize retirees and provide volunteer assistance to active-duty organizations that require such help. To also provide assistance to those retirees in need by staffing a Retire Activities Office with volunteer retirees who are capable of responding to questions posed by retirees and their dependents on a daily basis.

Retirees with questions regarding identification cards may call the RAO at (707) 424-3904. Retirees may use the Real Time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS) Appointment Scheduler at https://rapids-appointments.dmdc.osd.mil/default.aspx or visit the Total Force Support Squadron website at www.travisfss.com  to use the EID Online system or call your RAO and a Volunteer Counselor will assist you with scheduling an ID appointment.

RETIREE BENEFIT UPDATES

In January 2020, military retirees currently receiving Social Security benefits can expect to see a 1.6% increase in their Social Security benefits.

Medicare Standard Part B recipients will see their premium payments increase to $144.60 per month from 134.00 per month. This rate applies to recipients whose adjusted gross income doesn't exceed $87,000 per year if they are filing single, or $174,000 per year if they are filing a joint tax return. Tax Assistance for Tax Year 2019

The holiday season is here and with its conclusion tax season is upon us. Travis AFB no longer hosts the Volunteer Tax Assistance Program, but sources of help are available at a number of local Senior/Community Center locations through the American Association of Retired People (AARP). The RAO at Travis has reached out to each center and all of them require people needing assistance to call in for an appointment. If you need help, we recommend you call the center serving your town or city during the ist half of January to setup an appointment, get information regarding the documents you need to bring in to file your taxes, and to find out if there are any age or income restrictions on who's eligible for assistance. RETIREE APPRECIATION DAY

This year’s Retiree Appreciation Day (RAD) 2019 took place on 26 October 2019 at the David Grant USAF Medical Center. This event recognized more than 65,000 retirees and family members by providing a venue to connect them with the services they need and to also see what the Air Force has been up to since they retired. This event was carefully planned by leader Captain Sara Salmeri of the 60th Medical Group, ably assisted by MSgt Amanda Richardson of the 21st Airlift Squadron, planned and made possible by personnel across the 60th AMW who gave “above and beyond” to make it happen. Thank you!
