For some Airmen at Travis looking for a place to relax; The Airmen's Pit is a place for food, fun and laughs right in their backyard.

The Airmen's Pit, located directly outside the dorms, is a place for young servicemembers to socialize and have fun in an environment specifically designed for them.

"The Pit is a home away from home. We try to create a family atmosphere," said Gina Spellman, manager of The Pit. "We try to do everything for the Airmen and try to bring a safe alternative for Airmen who want to have a good time on the weekend without ever leaving base."

For Airmen who want to showcase their vocal and performing talents, The Pit hosts karaoke every Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

"The Pit is a place filled with smiling faces and fun wholesome activities to all Airmen at Travis," said Airman 1st Class Cordell Levine, 60th Operations Support Squadron.

For those Airmen who are not so musically inclined, The Pit also has Nintendo Wii gaming systems to challenge your skills, a table pool and a variety of arcade games.

"We also have a variety of sports games playing. We play all UFC fights, boxing and football games," said Mrs. Spellman.

On weeknights, The Pit also offers a variety of food, games, music entertainment and a patio for all Airmen to enjoy.

"Coming soon we have a new party room that is going to host poker games, parties and special events," said Mrs. Spellman.

The Airmen's Pit hours are Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sundays 12 p.m. to 2 a.m.
