DGMC to host Nurse/Tech Week

Beginning May 7, the David Grant USAF Medical Center will celebrate National Nurse and Medical Technician Appreciation Week.

Under the theme of "You Can Bet on Us," the 60th Medical Group will honor the 263 nurses and 298 medical technicians who quietly demonstrate their dedication, commitment and tireless efforts to their profession, 365 days a year.

Throughout the week, the DGMC will host various events to show the nurses and medical technicians how much the bring DGMC and Team Travis.

"I am continually impressed and genuinely inspired by the manner in which our Nursing Services professionals deliver quality health care to our beneficiary population of more than 88,000," said Chief Master Sgt. Kenneth Western, 60th Medical Group Aerospace Medical Service functional manager. "Travis medics serve this country in numerous ways. Whether in-garrison, deployed overseas or supporting humanitarian missions, 'You Can Bet on Us' to provide the best health services, education and research to improve the health, readiness and overall quality of life of those entrusted to our care."

"The nursing team is a main driver in the health care arena," explained Col. (RN) Carol Vermillion, 60th Medical Group chief nurse. "Our extensive training, a proud tradition and strong commitment to help mankind have made military nurses and medical technicians, not only valuable assets in military medicine, but to our country as well. Nurse/Tech Appreciation Week is one way of recognizing these hardworking professional individuals."
