The mission of the Retiree Activities Office is to provide a continuous update of information helpful to the Air Force retirees who reside in our assigned area of responsibility. Further, to mobilize retirees and provide volunteer assistance to active duty organizations that require such help. To also provide assistance to those retirees in need by staffing a Retiree Activities Office with volunteer retirees who are capable of responding to questions posed by retirees and their dependents on a daily basis.

Retirees with questions regarding identification cards, call the appointment line at 707-424-3409. Retirees must contact the MPS to schedule an appointment and to verify information needed to process ID requests.

SUBJECT: Retiree Newsletter Changes

1. Providing our local Air Force retirees with a mailed copy of our monthly newsletter has been a great tool in keeping all informed and active in the Air Force community. Due to increased technology and the ability to provide more timely information, we are phasing out the paper newsletter and have designed a retiree activities website.

2. Our website will constantly be updated with Air Force retiree news. We will contact organizations such as the David Grant Medical Center, Tri-Care for Life, Pharmacy, etc. and post items of interest from the local area that may affect your retiree benefits. We are looking forward to transforming into the electronic age, and hope you are excited to receive information via the web instead of paper mailings. If you do not have access to the internet, your local library has computers for public use and can assist you getting on-line.

3. If you have any questions about our online newsletter, feel free to contact the Retiree Activities Office (RAO) at (707) 424-3904/5, or e-mail us at joseph.rowan@travis.af.mil.

tabSurviving Spouse
The Department of Veterans Affairs has created a new internet web site for the surviving spouses and dependents of military personnel who died on active duty and for the survivors and dependents of veterans who died after leaving the military.

The site is organized into two broad categories - death in service and death after service. It provides visitors with information about a wide range of benefits for the surviving spouse, dependent children, and dependent parents of deceased veterans and active-duty personnel.

The site also has information from, and link to, other federal agencies and organizations that offer benefits and services to survivors and dependents. There is also a link to Frequently Asked Questions that answers most questions. For more specific questions, the site tells how to contact the VA directly.

The new website can be found at http://www.vba.va.gov/survivors or by clicking the "Survivors Benefits" button on the left panel of http://www.vba.va.gov.
