Kimiye Touchi

Kimiye Touchi
Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC)
Kimiye has been a member of the Travis AFB Restoration Advisory Board since January 2020.  She is a remedial project manager for the DTSC who provides State of California oversight of the Travis AFB Environmental Restoration Program.  She earned an Associate of Science degree from the City College of San Francisco and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from UC Davis in Davis, California.

Her early interest in environmental work started when she worked as a lab technician for Stauffer Chemicals, performing bench-scale tests to find ways to clean up a number of pesticide waste streams at their research and development facility in Richmond, California. Later, as a student at UC Davis, she studied emissions from tertiary recovery ponds under an Air Resources Board grant at a Chevron facility in Bakersfield, California.

Prior to her work at Travis AFB, Kimiye worked as a consultant for over 30 years where she went from a staff level engineer to task leader/project manager for cleanup projects, where she was fortunate to get hands-on experience in the investigation, remediation, and closeout of groundwater and soil remediation projects for clients such as the Air Force and State of California.

Kimiye resides in Fair Oaks where she lives with her husband. She enjoys learning and participating in a few of the Japanese arts (e.g., iaido (sword work) and dance), good martial arts and action flicks (e.g., Iron Man), and learning about the workings of the body and brain together.
