Colonel CLINTON B. VARTY

Colonel Clinton B. Varty is the Commander, 60th Maintenance Group, Travis Air Force Base, California. As commander, he is responsible for the management of four Aircraft Maintenance Squadrons and the Aerial Port Squadron assigned to the Wing. In that capacity, he leads over 2,200 active, civilian, and reserve personnel supporting Air Mobility Command’s largest wing, providing organizational and field-level maintenance for 18 C-5, 13 C-17, 20 KC-10, and 2 KC-46 assigned aircraft along with all transient aircraft. Additionally, he leads aerial port activities in providing global cargo movement and traffic management operations, along with world class Space Available/Required passenger services. Colonel Varty serves as the senior logistics subject matter expert on all aircraft maintenance and aerial port support issues on the installation.

Colonel Varty began his Air Force career as an Aerospace Propulsion Technician in the 446th Aircraft Generation Squadron at McChord AFB, Washington. He earned his commission through the Air Force ROTC program at Washington State University, completed his Bachelor of Arts degree, and was commissioned in May of 2001. Colonel Varty was formerly the Deputy Group Commander of the 60 Maintenance Group at Travis Air Force Base. He is a three-time Squadron commander and has served in a variety of positions at the United States Transportation Command, wing and base levels. Colonel Varty has deployed in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM.
