Travis lodging had a great year in 2011. While winning the Air Mobility Command Innkeeper Award, competing at Air Force-Level and earning a 97.2 percent accreditation score illustrates their commitment to excellence, they never forget to focus on the future.

Taking care of our guests is the number one priority, said Steve Ellison, general manager of the Westwind Inn. Customer service is an important part of that equation but as with any business, you have to plan for the future. In 2011 we completed several projects to include new mattress sets and coverlets for building 402, a total décor renovation of building 447 and numerous self-help projects to improve the appearance around the property. The goal of the program is to ensure the highest quality transient accommodations for all our guests and we are primed to improve again this year.

In 2012 we are fully funded and scheduled to complete four facility décor projects to upgrade 53 guest units and one common-area laundry room. These décor projects include replacing carpet, mattress sets, bedspreads, upholstered furniture, window covering, 32" flat panel TVs and DVD players. The total value of the four projects is $930,000.

The entire cost for these renovations is derived from non-appropriated funds that come out of the Air Force Lodging Fund, which draws its revenues directly from the room rates charged at every AF Inns property.

2012 Travis Project Updates:
Phase I: Temporary Living Facility buildings 442 and 445, 24 family units, scheduled to begin March 5. NAF project with a cost of $515,000.

Phase II: Building 410, 23 guest rooms, scheduled to begin in late March. NAF project with a cost of $300,000.

Phase III: Building 419, 6 Business Suites, scheduled to begin in early April. NAF project with a cost of $115,000.

These renovations are a welcome enhancement to our property and will benefit all our Travis guests.
