Ten Pin eatery gets ball rolling

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The latest Food Transformation Initiative location, Ten Pin inside of Travis Bowl, celebrated its grand opening Sept. 15 with free food and door prizes to all who attended.

Travis is one of five pilot bases incorporating the campus-style dining option into the meal card plan. The campus-style dining concept provides Airmen with a larger variety of fresh food options available at more convenient locations.

The 60th Force Support Squadron continues its partnership with Aramark to bring the initiative to fruition.

As a result of the partnership, Travis Airmen now have the option of using meal cards at the Sierra Inn Dining Facility, Wingman's in the Delta Breeze Club, the Knucklebuster Café in Hangar 810, Rickenbackers Café at the Westwood Inn, Gatsby's Grill on the Cypress Lakes golf course and, the newest addition, Ten Pin at Travis Bowl.

Ten Pin, formerly the Strike Zone Grill, received a face lift in preparation of the new FTI location to draw in Airmen.

"The walls, floors, counters and signs were completely redone," said Danielle Meaux, retail manager for Aramark. "We want Ten Pin to be a place where people are enticed to come in and also offer a destination spot for Airmen."

Not only will Airmen be drawn in by the reconstruction and the new menu, but Ten Pin offers uniquely styled burgers that cannot be found anywhere else.
