In Remembrance: Senior Airman Chad Colgan Published Aug. 28, 2007 By Tailwind Staff 60th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Senior Airman Chad Colgan, 60th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron C-5 crew chief, passed away Aug. 26 as a result of injuries received in a motorcycle accident in Vacaville, Calif. Airman Colgan was from Toulon, Ill., and joined the Air Force in November 2003. He is survived by his wife, Brooke, father, Don, mother, Patty, brother, Jeremy and sister, Dawn. "Airman Colgan was an extremely valued member of the 60th AMXS and he will be greatly missed," said Lt. Col. Earl Scott, 60th AMXS commander. "Although way too brief, we were fortunate enough to have Chad as a member of the squadron, group, wing and our Air Force for the time which we did. He was a talented and energetic C-5 aircraft mechanic who loved to ride motorcycles, watch TV and simply hang out with friends." "A lot of nice things can, and should, be said about someone that has lost their life, but the one thing that stands out in my mind is the fact that Chad, and so many others, are a rare breed of true patriots to this country," Colonel Scott added. "He elected to serve in our military after the unbelievably tragic events of September 11, 2001, when our country was attacked. This in itself serves as a testament to his character, in that after witnessing the events of that infamous day, he eagerly volunteered to join our Armed Forces." "On behalf of all the women and men of the 60th AMXS, we sincerely extend our deepest condolences to the entire Colgan family," Colonel Scott said. A memorial service for Airman Colgan is scheduled forĀ Aug. 30 at 10 a.m., at Chapel One.
