Through the Travis webpage, email and the Tailwind, those living or working on Travis can access any pertinent base and Air Force information. Another less known outlet, though, is the Commander’s Access Channel which is maintained and broadcasted from the Travis Public Affairs office.

The CAC is meant to reach internal information audiences on base through a cable distribution system. It normally broadcasts training and entertainment videos, along with event slides, but its most important function is to broadcast important exercise or real world events and instructions as they occur on base.

Military members and their families can access the CAC on channel 26 of any television on base with a cable hookup or through IPTV on any Travis computer.

Recently, the CAC was updated with new programs used either for training purposes or entertainment, including Air Force News, an Operations Security information video and the 2005 Air Force Vision.

The channel also broadcasts a slideshow highlighting reminders and events happening on base. The programming will be updated on a monthly basis or whenever needed.

Also, Travis is proud to announce the expected arrival of the Pentagon Channel in late spring. The Pentagon Channel broadcasts military news and information 24 hours a day, seven days a week to any U.S. Armed Service members and their families. This channel will also be available to cable users or anyone with IPTV capability. In the meantime, anyone can access their streaming video clips from their home computer at www.pentagonchannel.com.

For more information or to place an event slide or video on the CAC, call the Public Affairs office at 424-2011.
