Long hours, intense heat and a demanding workload can take its toll on the daily lives of Travis Airmen. Fortunately, they have a place on base where they can kick back and relax after a long day's work.

Located behind the Delta Breeze Club and next door to Godfather's Pizza, USO Travis opened its doors to the military community in August 2012 and has since provided countless service members and their families with entertainment and social activities.

"Our goal is to be here for the Airmen and take care of them and their families," said Ramona Rollins, USO volunteer. "We want to create an atmosphere for them to unwind after a long day at work."

Airmen and their families have full access to pingpong, air hockey and pool tables. They can enjoy the big game on high definition TVs while lounging on leather chairs and couches or play the latest video games on the Xbox and Playstation 3.

Free Wi-Fi is available to surf the Internet and the snack bar is stocked with drinks and food. Also, there is a children's play area where little ones can play with toys more suited for their age.

"All the amenities we have here are absolutely free to service members and their families," said Deann Biermann, USO volunteer. "We encourage everyone to come out and take full advantage of it."

USO Travis also hosts events periodically to get Airmen out of the dorm s and to socialize. Last week they are hosted a free movie night outside on the soccer field between the dorms near Bldg. 1350. The attendees enjoyed free snacks and beverages while watching the movie Identity Theft on a giant inflatable screen.

After a long day at the office, be sure to stop by the USO to take advantage of all the amenities they offer. The USO is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 3-9 p.m. on Sunday. Call 437-2714 for more information.
