The Travis Bowling Center is scheduled to celebrate its 50th anniversary next month.
For 29 of those 50 years, the bowling operations have been maintained by one of the best mechanics in the business, Romeo David.

David came to Travis from Clark Air Base, the Philippines, in 1983, where he was also the head mechanic at the bowling center and gained valuable experience that he brought to Travis. However, it is more than his past experience that makes him such a valuable employee.

His work ethic, great humor and ability to find a solution to a problem has made him one of the most valued employees in the 60th Force Support Squadron.

As the chief mechanic he is solely responsible for the maintenance of the lanes, upkeep of the pins, the thousands of moving parts in a single bowling lane and the appearance of the pit area. He has saved the bowling operation thousands of dollars over his 29-year career at Travis by personally reconditioning every pin to extend their normal life cycle and always making sure the lanes are properly waxed. As a customer, when you walk into the bowling center, you will rarely notice him, but he is always around repairing any malfunction that might interrupt your bowling game.

David makes a difference every time he clocks in for work as his commitment and approach to his responsibilities are second to none. Travis Bowl simply does not work as efficiently without him.

Every employee has been motivated by David's impressive work ethic. According to David, his strong work value comes from his family.

"They believed in old school values and demanded 100 percent commitment to employers,"he said.

David gives 100 percent each and every day with a smile and true love for the work he does.

At this point, we're afraid of the day he decides to retire as it will be a huge loss to the center and Travis. We are truly grateful to have had the opportunity to work with David and look forward to his continued success.
