Charles Rivezzo 60th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Air Force Personnel Center officials recently announced that a Travis Airman was named as a Hennessey Travel award recipient as part of the 2016 John L. Hennessey Award for food service excellence. Airman 1st Class Brennan Duhe, 60th Force Support Squadron shift worker, was selected as a Region 2 winner, the Western Hemisphere region, after his team underwent a comprehensive food services evaluation earlier this year. Hennessey Travel Award individual winners were judged on professionalism, dress and appearance, leadership, knowledge, teamwork and attitude. "I really strive to do my best in everything I do," Duhe said. "The John L. Hennessey competition is not just about the award," said Master Sgt. Joseph Youngs, a Region 2 evaluator, in a memo earlier this year. "It is about embracing a 60-year tradition of food service excellence. This program offers a tremendous opportunity for teamwork, something the military and hospitality industry know is critical to success. Hennessey also provides a forum for industry leaders to interact with the military and offer expertise, advice and counseling at all levels." Along with fellow will Travel Award winners, Brennan will attend a weeklong Armed Forces Forum for Culinary Excellence, hosted by the National Restaurant Association Military Foundation, at the Culinary Institute of America, in St. Helena, California, July 30-Aug. 6. "I'm very excited to attend the Culinary Institute," he said. "I hope to gain more knowledge in different ways to make people smile using my talent for food." As a Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native, Duhe said he learned to cook at a young age. I've always enjoyed cooking for people," he said. "I'm looking forward to learning from the master chefs how to exemplify that." The travel awards will be presented during training at the Culinary Institute of America in August.
