The Travis Outdoor Recreation and Information, Tickets and Travel office held its grand re-opening ceremony  March 7 after a seven-month renovation and remodel

Presiding over the ceremony, Lt. Col. Joseph Schneider, 60th Force Support Squadron commander, spoke highly of the teams who played a major role in the project's completion as well as the many new and updated amenities the facility has to offer.

"During the past seven months, Outdoor Recreation has transformed into a much more welcoming and functional outdoor recreation facility for Team Travis," Schneider said. "The amount of dedication that the ODR staff, civil engineers, contract specialists and contractors put into the renovation was above and beyond expectations. Almost every inch of the facility has been updated, improved or upgraded."

As part of the $250,000 renovation, Outdoor Recreation added new offices, furniture, rental areas, a ski and bike shop, increased rock wall flooring, a new retail area and storage for more than 500 different types of equipment housed in the facility.

Schneider officially cut the ribbon on the new facility along with Col. Leonard Kosinski, 60th Air Mobility Wing vice commander.

"It's incredible to think about just how much this facility gives back to our Airmen and their families," Kosinski said. "They have something to provide you for every hobby, weekend or event and with this new renovation we have even more to offer."

Although the facility underwent major renovations, many viewed this project as simply improving an already flourishing program. For the past two years, Travis' ODR center has been recognized as Air Mobility Command's Outdoor Recreation Program of the Year.

Furthermore, the ITT office totaled more than $4.3 million in sales, ranking them first in AMC as well.
