With the new school year in full swing, it's a good time to get families scheduled for eye exams.

Two new eye-care providers, Maj. Ethan Woodbury and Capt. Nicholas Jones, have joined the David Grant USAF Medical Center Optometry clinic and are now seeing patients. In some military eye clinics, appointments are limited to active duty only. However, at Travis with new optometrists and university rotations, the clinic is often available to dependents.

All eye exams done at DGMC optometry are permanently stored in the electronic record system and will travel with you during your spouse's military career. The eye exam is free with no co-pay. Contact lenses are not a TRICARE benefit, but those patients who do wear contacts are asked to bring in their old prescription if they have them. If needed, the doctor will provide an eyeglass prescription that can be utilized at any optical shop.

To schedule exams, call the central appointment line at 423-3000.
