"Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." President John F. Kennedy's quote has never rung more true than it does here at Travis. I'm telling you that I am amazed at what Team Travis accomplishes every day.

Air Mobility Command boasts that there is an AMC jet taking off in the world every 90 seconds. I don't know if anyone has calculated it, but I believe Travis shares in a significant portion of that accomplishment, especially given our diverse mission.

We have hundreds of deployed Airmen which entails sacrifices not only for the member, but also for his or her loved ones.

We dominated at the Rodeo by taking 17 major trophies to include Best Air Mobility Team, we were more than competitive for the Commander-in-Chief Installation Excellence Award, the 60th Maintenance Group recently won the AMC Daedalion Trophy for best maintenance organization in AMC and is moving on to compete at the Air Force level.

Countless sorties are flown in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom to include delivery of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected armored vehicles to the warfighter. Our mission accomplishments are phenomenal and if this is the measuring stick we want to use for success well, we're there!

However, the men and women of Travis have chosen to go the extra mile during this holiday season and give back to the community in so many ways. To list a few: Habitat for Humanity, Toys for Tots, holiday care packages for deployed members, serving Thanksgiving Day dinner to the veterans in Yountville and decorating their facilities for the holidays, raised over $4,000 for the Fisher House via the Annual Holiday Tree Festival and Auction, ringing bells for the Salvation Army, contributions for the Combined Federal Campaign, gathering supplies and delivering Thanksgiving and Holiday food baskets for Airmen, Travis first sergeants Holiday Cheer raised over $18,000 and the list goes on and on.

Bottom line: our Air Force family is tremendous and I really don't think you can find this type of teamwork and camaraderie outside the military. Relish in the fact that you are part of such an outstanding profession.

Keep up this amazing effort, be sure to take care of yourself and your loved ones, be thankful everyday and I challenge you to carry this holiday spirit with you throughout the year. There is a lot of good that can be done outside the holiday season. For example, try to serving food at a homeless shelter during the spring or summer.

Not only have you answered your nation's call to serve and protect, but you have also answered the call to care for those around you. I'm proud to say that I'm part of the Travis Team and you should be too. Thanks for all you do! Be safe and enjoy the holidays - cheers!
