Remember your Wingman this holiday

We have had such a busy summer and fall that it is hard to believe the holiday season is upon us!

Hopefully, Airmen from across our three Wing's will get to enjoy some well deserved 'down time' during this Thanksgiving holiday as we reflect back on what makes our nation strong - the men and women of our Armed Forces.

Before you know it, the hustle and bustle of the holidays will be in full swing culminating with a toast here or there as we welcome in 2008.

While we want you to enjoy this holiday season, it is absolutely imperative we mutually support each other as the holidays are often fraught with higher DUI rates, alcohol related incidents and suicide attempts. Please look after each other this holiday season - it is meant to be joyous, full of wonderment and laughter!

Also, while the holiday season is a time for giving, it can also be financially stressful to meet that end. There will be many financially competing events - squadron holiday functions, church or charitable donations, gifts for family and friends to name a few - that seem very inviting and can burn a whole in your pocket book quickly if you don't have a budget - and stick to it!

Remember, Government Travel Card use for this purpose is prohibited...you do not want to go there! Finally, your supervisor and first sergeant, as well as our Airman and Family Readiness Center stand ready to offer financial counsel.

On a lighter note, many thanks to our Travis Regional Armed Forces Committee, chaired by Burt Gaulke, for continued world-class support to Team Travis. From commander and military appreciation nights to quarterly and annual awards recognition of Team Travis Airmen, and everything in between - you have shined!

Brig. Gen. Thomas Gisler, 349th Air Mobility Wing commander, described the TRAFC and its relation to Travis at a recent TRAFC luncheon as the best community support to an installation he had ever known. On behalf of the men and women of Team Travis and our spouses and families, thank you TRAFC for all you do!

Happy Thanksgiving Team Travis - be safe and will I see everyone back on Monday!
Big, Proud, Strong!
