Team Travis continues to impress Published Feb. 15, 2007 By Col. Steve Arquiette 60th Air Mobility Wing commander TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- This week, Team Travis welcomed the 18th Air Force commander, Maj. Gen. James Hawkins, and his wife Linda to meet our world-class Airmen and tour our magnificent base! I was very proud to showcase the unique, myriad capabilities of all the partners of Team Travis and all the work that takes place here daily. General Hawkins was visibly impressed with you all. I know these visits take a lot of patience, time and planning, but your efforts were clearly evident. The general and his wife left Travis with a complete understanding of the tremendous work accomplished here by our proud and motivated team of Airmen and civilians. Deb and I thank each and every one of you who helped put this successful visit together. Your strong impression didn't stop there. Team Travis took full advantage of another opportunity to impress during a quick visit from General Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. His visit was supposed to be a quick "gas-n-go," but it turned out to be so much more. (Click here to view article). Everyone, from our Protocol professionals to our amazing medics in the Aeromedical Staging Facility, jumped through hoops to put together a "gas-n-go" that will be remembered for so much more. We left an indelible impression on the heart of not only the Marine who departed with the general, but also to the general himself. "Thank You" and "Job Well Done" to everyone who pulled together to make the Chairman's visit so successful. Soon we will have a chance to recognize those people who have been the most impressive among Team Travis. On March 2, we will applaud the efforts of our top Airmen at the 2006 Annual Awards Banquet, which will begin at 6 p.m. in the Delta Breeze Club. Please congratulate all of those who have been nominated. They are a reflection of each of you and their accomplishments couldn't be possible without your teamwork. I look forward to the announcement of all those to be recognized for their outstanding efforts which contribute to our overall success throughout the year. Congratulations to all of the award recipients for a job well done! We'll remain as busy as ever in the upcoming weeks, with many more opportunities to impress. In fact, our next opportunity is this weekend when we welcome the Air Force Hennessy Evaluation Team to witness our all-star Sierra Inn Dining Facility team in action. Our Sierra Inn Dining Facility is sure to be named "Best in the Air Force" for the second year in a row! I hope you take this three-day weekend as an opportunity to enjoy some well-deserved time off. Relax with family and friends, but please be sure to take care of your wingman. BE PROUD, BE SAFE
