Our job to greet Airmen, families Published July 19, 2013 By Master Sgt. Stephen Teel 60 Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Permanent Change of Station season is upon us once again and it is time to say goodbye to some of our leaders, co-workers, subordinates and friends. Part of our military tradition is transitioning from one location to another, diversifying in our leadership and followership experiences. This is the time to take advantage of new leadership philosophies and followership experiences. For those departing we should take what we have learned from their time here and use it, pass it along and make our work places better. A long line of Travis members have made Travis Air Force Base and the surrounding community a great place to live and work. It is our responsibility to ensure we keep the right momentum going as we move ahead. For those inbound we owe it to ourselves and them to be flexible. You should keep an open mind as they bring in and share their experiences and their leadership philosophies with us. It is an outstanding opportunity to make the right first impression and set the right tone in our workplaces. These are our new family members now and we need to make them feel welcome as they take the reins for the new job. Step up, show our new family the ropes, take them around to help them get acquainted to the new workplace, base and surrounding communities. Travis and the local area have a lot to offer, help get our new family off to the right start.
