Travis tankers extend the fight against ISIS Published June 7, 2017 By Staff Reports 60th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. – Coalition tankers continue to support an uptick in weapons employed against Islamic State of Iraq and Syria strongholds, enabling the release of the most ordnance in a four-month stretch since the inception of Operation Inherent Resolve. As of April 30, U.S. Air Forces Central Command-controlled aircraft have released more than 14,000 weapons in support of OIR in 2017. Since Jan. 1, coalition tankers have flown more than 3,800 sorties and offloaded 241 million pounds of fuel to a variety of coalition aircraft. KC-10 Extenders assigned to Travis Air Force Base have served as one of the primary aerial refueling platforms in the fight against ISIS. Operation Inherent Resolve is the operation to eliminate ISIS and the threat they pose to Iraq, Syria and the international community.
