Travis AFB releases FY16 Economic Impact Analysis Published July 6, 2017 By Staff Reports 60th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Travis Air Force Base officials released the economic impact analysis July 6 which totaled $1.65 billion for fiscal year 2016, an accounting time period of Oct. 1, 2015 to Sept. 30, 2016. During this time period, Travis remained the largest employer in Solano County with a workforce of 26,205 personnel. Travis employed 6,641 active-duty military members, 2,853 Air Force Reservists, 1,849 civil-service civilians and 1,169 civilians in non-appropriated fund positions, contracts and private businesses. “It was both a difficult and rewarding year for Team Travis and the keys to our successes were the exceptional partnerships we have across the base, county and state,” said Col. John Klein, 60th Air Mobility Wing commander. “We are proud to serve the Air Force and our local partners as the largest single contributor to Solano County economic activity. We deeply appreciate your continued support of our Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and civilians. As we build upon our foundation of excellence, we look forward to the continued partnership with each of our Solano communities.” The partnership between Travis and Solano County generated 4,839 indirect jobs, totaling an estimated annual dollar value of $249,653,812. Indirect jobs are created to support an influx of people in the area. Additionally, Travis awarded more than $111 million worth of contracts to local businesses for work on construction, operations and maintenance of base infrastructure projects. The base also awarded more than $63 million in services and general support contracts. The economic impact analysis also outlines the impact of more than 100,000 military and civil service retirees and their families who live within a 50-mile radius of the base. Of those retirees, over 15,000 live within Solano County and earn an approximate total of more than $452 million in annual retirement annuities. These individuals spend about $0.66 of each dollar earned, or approximately $298 million, in the county.
