Gold Star family member receives first Travis DBIDS ID card Published Aug. 30, 2017 By Louis Briscese 60th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. – Jennifer Serex-Helwig, a Gold Star family member, became the first person to receive the Gold Star DBIDS installation access card issued at Travis Air Force Base, California, Aug. 29. Serex-Helwig is the daughter of U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Henry Serex whose plane was shot down over Vietnam on April 2, 1972 and has been missing-in-action ever since. The Gold Star DBIDS installation access card is a Chief of Staff of the Air Force initiative which allows family members of those who perished in combat or as a result of a terrorist incident, to obtain an ID card.
