Commanders call: "any place any time" Published Nov. 9, 2017 By Airman 1st Class Jonathon D. A. Carnell 60th Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs Travis Air Force Base, Calif. – Col. John Klein, 60th Air Mobility Wing commander, held wing commander’s calls in the base theatre at Travis Air Force Base, California, November 6-8. While walking among fellow Airmen on the theatre floors, Klein shared how Travis has maintained mission readiness during all the natural disasters which have taken place since the last commander’s call in August. “We are here for a reason and we should not forget that,” said Klein. “Rapidly projecting American power… anytime, anywhere.” Klein stressed how regular, everyday mission did not stop even though Travis provided relief to hurricanes, an earthquake in Mexico and local wildfires. However, his main message was to challenge those in the audience to not only understand their importance, but to also recollect why they joined the ranks of the world’s greatest Air Force. “Don’t underestimate what you do; it is absolutely significant,” said Klein. “Our vision of what we strive to be: America’s finest mobility force serving locally, and engage globally.” Klein went into detail on how priorities relate to the mission. Mission greatness is executing today rather than investing in tomorrow, said Klein. The plan is to prepare for tomorrow. Being prepared and striving for complete readiness is the focus for the wings upcoming base exercises, said Klein. Travis will undergo more training exercises in the upcoming months to ensure “we” as team can execute any duties which may need our response, said Klein. “There are a lot of people around the world waiting for the United States of America to crumble,” said Klein. “I want to do my part to guarantee Americans the same freedoms and opportunities for life, liberty and pursuit of happiness which I have had.” Klein said that not only does he serve for his family, but he serves for his children, his grandchildren and great grandchildren and for their families as well.
