Interested in pursuing a career in the dental field, but don't know where to start?

First launched in June 2006 at David Grant USAF Medical Center's Arthur J. Satchel Dental Clinic, the American Red Cross may be the training and development opportunity you're searching for.

It's portable which is important for military families and creates a win-win for everyone as the dental clinic team gains extra hands and expertise. If you have an interest and skilled and compassionate hands, consider this opportunity.

The program consists of 800 hours of classroom and clinical experience. Hours are scheduled from 6:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Participants must also complete a CPR and First aid course and current immunizations.

Reimbursement for child care or transportation expenses is not available for those candidates selected. It is understood that this is a significant commitment, but this is a free opportunity for those selected and DGMC's clinic provides quality training. Each candidate who completes the program will leave with marketable skills.

Due to the chemicals and X-rays students may be exposed to during the course, women who are pregnant will not be considered for this program per dental clinic policy. Each class is small to insure quality training.

If you're interested in a new and rewarding opportunity, the next round of selections has begun. Eligible candidates must be 18 years old or older and a military-sponsored ID card holder. Applications for this program are available at the American Red Cross office, located on the first floor of DGMC. Completed applications must be returned at 5 p.m. by July 5. Applicants who successfully pass the paper screening will be notified and interviewed the following week, with notification of their status by July 15.
