Travis Bowl to celebrate 50 years

During the week of Aug. 13 to 17, Travis Bowl will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary.

To kick off the celebration, the week of Aug. 13, they will offer 50 cent food and bowl specials all week from 11 am to 2 pm including: 50-cent cheese nachos, hot dogs, fountain drinks, shoe rentals, games and more.

The celebration will be kicked up a notch on Aug. 17 with a huge party from 3 pm to 6 pm. Party goers will be treated to appetizers, anniversary cake, lot's of games, door prizes, and a prize wheel that will be spinning and distributing additional prizes throughout the party. The giveaways include custom vintage bowling shirts, free fuel gift cards and $300 towards a family trip to Disneyland.

Travis Bowl opened its doors in 1962 with 12 lanes. In 1980, they expanded to 32 lanes and continued to be a central destination at Travis.

Currently, Travis Bowl continues to showcase success by being ranked number four of 85 bowling centers in the United States Air Force. In addition, they have been ranked number one in the Air Mobility Command for 12 years in a row and they are 2011's AMC Bowling Program of the Year.

Recently Travis Bowl upgraded to a well deserved and new; "state of the art" scoring system with flat screens TVs and 14 different viewing options, individual bumper systems for each lane and couches added to the pit area for comfort.

The center also offer Sunday football and "Cosmic Glow in-the-dark-Bowling" with music offered every Friday and Saturday nights and league play throughout most of the year. They have an International Bowling Pro Shop and Instructors Association certified Pro Shop operation and they offer $1 bowl every day beginning May through mid September.
With such a great history of success and displaying a newly upgraded interior, Travis Bowl is celebrating its 50 years with a huge party week.
