DGMC nabs 60 AMC level awards Published Jan. 7, 2011 By 60th Medical Group Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Christmas came early for 60 people assigned to the David Grant USAF Medical Center as Air Mobility Command announced Dec. 16 the command award winners for the Air Force Medical Service Annual Awards Program. In a message from Gen. Raymond E. Johns Jr., AMC commander, DGMC units, individuals and offices were recognized as the best in the command for fiscal year 2010. Each recipient is authorized to wear the Air Force Recognition Ribbon and will now compete at the Air Force level, DGMC will compete in the "Best Hospital of the Year" category. "This year's competition was keen and every nomination package reflected a stellar performance," General Johns stated in a congratulatory letter. "Without a doubt, everyone displayed great dedication and initiative through their outstanding accomplishments and professional achievement." General Johns noted all medical service award recipients earned this distinction as a result of their drive and discipline. "They are models of excellence and represent the 'best of the best' in AMC. I commend all of the nominees for their outstanding efforts and wish the winners continued success as they compete at the Air Force level." The AFMSA is presented by the Air Force Surgeon General's Medical Force Development directorate to 150 medical personnel who exemplify superior job performance, innovative operations and exceptional teamwork, according to the AFMSA Web site. "DGMC rocks!" exclaimed Dr. (Col.) Brian Hayes, 60th Medical Group commander in a message he shared throughout the facility right before the holiday break. "We won a total of 60 awards.
