A ribbon cutting ceremony officially marked the opening of the new Air Mobility Command Telephone Operator Consolidated Call Center here March 4.

At 5 a.m. PST that morning, all calls to Dover Air Force Base, Del., were transferred to operators at Travis.

The goal of the TOCCC is to establish one centralized call center for all AMC bases, said Master Sgt. Curtis Chaiyes, 60th Communications Squadron Planning and Implementation section chief.

The consolidation of all operators to the centralized call center will save AMC approximately $3 million, Sergeant Chaiyes added.

Dover AFB is the first of 10 bases that will eventually be turned over to the TOCCC, with the goal of adding one new base each month.

"Our key to success has been an outstanding relationship between Master Sgt. Chaiyes and the AMC Program Manager," said Lt. Col. Robert Sylvester, 60th CS commander. "Additionally, we've been sharing lessons learned, expectations and schedules with each base prior to cutover. In fact, we took lessons learned from this week's Dover AFB cutover and have already shared them with Little Rock AFB. This should help us mitigate problems from reoccurring."

The following bases will be added by the end of the phased approach: Little Rock AFB, Ark., Fairchild AFB, Wash., MacDill AFB, Fla., McConnell AFB, Kan., Grand Forks AFB, N.D., Scott AFB, Ill., Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J. and Joint Base Charleston, S.C.

The opening of the TOCCC also highlights Team Travis' continuing partnership with the National Institute for the Blind, New View Oklahoma and Solano Diversified Services, providing jobs to people with physical disabilities.

"We're glad to be here today to oversee the seamless process of operating this call center," said Steven Hopkins, New View Oklahoma program manager. "We are showcasing what our folks here at Travis are capable of to the rest of the nation."

Col. James Spaulding, 60th Mission Support Group commander said as the Air Force moves to eliminate redundant capabilities, establishing a centralized call center was "the right thing to do."

"This is a new capability for AMC," said Colonel Spaulding. "I'm pleased we are here to capture that capability."
