If you've seen Travis' civilian patrolman on the streets, you may have noticed them wearing the standard BDU uniform with police shoulder patches and blue ball caps. They've recently updated their look with a distinctive navy blue uniform which more closely resembles that of other civilian police agencies.

"It's great to see the guys finally transition into their permanent uniform," said Mr. Wayne Norton, Air Provost Program Manager. "They've been waiting patiently while AMC finalized the uniform appearance." There will be a total of 24 civilian police positions comprised of the program manager, six supervisors and 17 patrolman.

The Air Force-wide effort to increase the number of civilian police officers stemmed from recognizing the impact heavy deployment cycles place on the home station mission.
Implementing civilian positions will bolster and stabilize the Security Forces career field manning for years to come.

The Air Provost officers exercise the same legal authority as their military coworkers and will be required to perform nearly all the same home station duties. All of the current officers have a military Security Forces background making the transition very easy for everyone," said Mr Norton, a 25-year Security Forces veteran.

Every Civilian Patrolman will be required to maintain annual weapons, physical fitness and job proficiency qualifications as a condition of employment. As the program matures, the civilian and military collaboration will continue to develop into a seamless team effort ensuring safety and security for all of Team Travis.
