An upcoming event at Travis Air Force Base will celebrate the safe return of deployed Airmen.

The celebration, named "Welcome Home Warriors," scheduled for Sept. 18 at 4:30 p.m. at the Travis Air Museum, will greet Airmen who have recently returned home from deployments downrange to the area of responsibility.

In addition to serving food, the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West will perform. For children, there are plans for paintball, arts and crafts and more.

"It's an event to welcome home those folks who returned from deployment in August and September," said Angela Bell, assistant marketing director for the 60th Force Support Squadron. "It's to say thank you, we're proud of you and it's good to have you home."

To attend the event, troops recently returned from deployment will receive vouchers from their first sergeants for them and their families, however, the entire base is invited.

Those not receiving tickets will pay $5 for food.

"We want everybody to come out and welcome them home," Mrs. Bell said.
She said more than 300 vouchers were distributed in anticipation of the event, but that anyone is welcome to come.

Though the event is the first of its kind, members of the 60th Air Mobility Wing staff are hoping to make the event a monthly occurrence, Mrs. Bell said.
