Air force to fly over Sacramento areas Published Aug. 19, 2009 60th Air Mobility Wing Office of Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Air Force aircraft will perform flyovers of several Sacramento areas Aug. 23 to Sept. 13 as part of Air Force Week Sacramento events. The flyovers, showcasing various Air Force aircraft, will take place during the following dates, approximate times, events and locations: Aug. 23 - 1:03 p.m. - Sacramento River Cats Game - Raley Field Aug. 28 - 5:05 p.m. - Sacramento River Cats Game - Raley Field Sept. 5 - 8 a.m. - Air Force Week Mather Mud Run - Hagan Park, Rancho Cordova Sept. 6 - 7:30 p.m. - California State Fair - State Fairgrounds Sept. 7 - 7:30 p.m. - California State Fair - State Fairgrounds Sept. 8 - 11:30 a.m. - Proclamation Signing - State Capitol Sept. 11 - 6:30 p.m. - Aaron Tippin Concert - State Capitol Sept. 12 - 6:59 p.m. - UC Davis vs. University of Montana - Aggie Stadium Sept. 12-13 - multiple flights - California Capital Air Show - Mather Airport Air Force flyovers present an opportunity for the public to view Air Force aircraft in flight, while also allowing Air Force involvement in special events. The flyovers have been coordinated with and approved by FAA officials, and FAA safety guidelines will be followed. Air Force flyovers are conducted on a "no additional cost to the government" basis using previously allotted training/flying hours.
