Red Cross Dental Assistant Program offered at DGMC Published May 28, 2009 Red Cross Office DGMC TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The American Red Cross Dental Assistant Volunteer Training program sponsored in conjunction with the Arthur J. Sachsel Dental Clinic at the David Grant USAF Medical Center is offering an opportunity for a training and development career that's portable and one which is important to so many military families. The program consists of 800 hours of classroom and clinical experience. Hours are scheduled from 6:45 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday from June 15 through Dec. 15, 2009. Applications are available at the Red Cross Office, and the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Applications must be completed and returned by 5 p.m. June 5 at the Red Cross Office at DGMC. Following a paper screening of the submitted applications, selected applicants will be interviewed the following week and notified of their selection status as the program begins on June 15. Please note that submission of a completed application is not a guarantee for be selection in the program. To be eligible for the training program, applicants must be 18 years of age or older and a military-sponsored identification card holder with access to Travis. Participants must also complete a Cardiopulmonary resuscitation/First Aid course and have current immunizations. Reimbursement for child care or transportation is not available. Due to the chemicals and X-rays students may be exposed to through the course, women who are pregnant may not be considered for this program per Dental Clinic policy.
