The Department of Defense has allocated the opportunity for a minimum of two active duty Air Force majors or major-selects to participate in the 2010 Executive Leadership Development Program, scheduled to begin in October 2009.

This program is designed specifically for highly motivated, active-duty officers who have demonstrated outstanding leadership ability, commitment to public service, integrity and who have an interest in moving into senior management positions. While placed in simulated environments, these officers must be able to operate in real-life situations which involve short deadlines, be receptive to a unique training methodology whereby the participants assume responsibility for their learning, and have the ability to conceptualize and analyze problems effectively. Military participants contribute a vital perspective on the missions, operations, culture and customs of the military and, in turn, learn from their civilian counterparts and senior managers/executives. These shared experiences enrich both military and civilian participants who are being groomed for further leadership roles.

To be eligible, an officer must be in the grade of major, or major-select, completed Squadron Officer School, Intermediate Developmental Education, either in-residence or by correspondence/seminar and successfully occupied a flight or above command position. Active-duty military personnel must apply to Headquarters Air Force Personnel Center/DPAFE no later than May 22, 2009. Contact your local Military Personnel Section customer service element for further questions on program applications.
