Congratulations Travis family of the year

The Porter family, nominated by the 60th Medical Operations Squadron was selected as Travis' 2008 Military Family of the Year during an open-house reception at the Airman and Family Readiness Center Nov. 20. 

The Porters were recognized for their "Service Before Self" to the Air Force community through their efforts in support of deployed Airmen and their families, the Phoenix Spouse program, Operation Farewell, Blue Star Moms, the United Service Organizations, 60 MDOS squadron activities and activities in support of the David Grant USAF Medical Center and their local school. 

Col. Mark Dillon, 60th Air Mobility Wing commander, recognized all of the families nominated for the honor and presented awards to the family of the year and the first and second runner-up families. 

First runner up was the Soave family of the 60th Maintenance Operations Squadron and second runner up was the Carmody family of the 21st Airlift Squadron. 

Nominated families for the 2008 Travis Military Family of the Year were: the Richardson family, 860th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron; the Jensen family, 349th Air Mobility Wing; the Wolf family, 60th Medical Diagnostics and Therapeutic Squadron; the Porter family, 60 MDOS; the Esquer family, 6th Air Refueling Squadron; the Kabutan family; 60th Aerial Port Squadron; the Kornegay family, 60 AMW; the Jones family; 573rd Global Support Squadron; the Sobel family, 60th Dental Squadron; the Tanksley family, 60th Communications Squadron and the Chew family, 615th Contingency Response Wing.
