In an effort to maximize participation in the Air Force FitFactor program, Air Mobility Command Services will further encourage AMC youth participation by awarding three guaranteed monthly prizes (two 1 GB iPod shuffles and one $15 iTunes Music Card) during the months of May through September.

Additionally, two grand prize winners at each base will be randomly selected from the pool of registered participants. The first drawing will be June 30 for an 80 GB iPod Classic; the second, Sept. 30 for a Nintendo Wii Game System and one game.

On top of these great prizes, all AMC bases that meet or exceed their Air Force Registration Goal will receive a Nintendo Wii Game System along with one game to be used in youth centers.

AMC's FitFactor initiative will be offered May 1 and wrap up with the conclusion of FitFactor on Sept. 30.

FitFactor is a youth health and fitness initiative sponsored by Air Force Services Family Member Programs. FitFactor encourages physical activity and healthy eating habits of youth between the ages of 6 to 18. New this year, parents can enroll in the program, track their activities, and act as health ambassadors for our youth. This initiative has been instrumental in educating countless youth throughout AMC on the many benefits of an active lifestyle.

"FitFactor is a great program that provides an opportunity for Travis youth to set goals that will help them attain a lifestyle of health and fitness," said Le Ann Edwards, 60th Services Squadron Marketing Director. "It's also a fun and rewarding experience that builds relationships between the youth and their parents that choose to participate with them."

The additional prizes will supplement the rewards already offered by Air Force Services. Youth earn and log points for participating in any physical activity and for making healthy eating choices. There are five FitFactor levels: Energy, Strength, Agility, Adventure and Endurance.

Prizes are earned and awarded to youth as they reach each FitFactor level. In addition to having fun, winning prizes and getting fit, FitFactor also encourages youth to:

-- Be physically active for at least 60 minutes each day,

-- Make healthy eating and lifestyle choices,

-- Include friends and family participation in fun activities and games,

-- Limit the amount of screen time (television and computer) they log each day,

-- Adopt healthy exercise routines including a broad range of physical and leisure-time activities,

-- Set personal goals for themselves.

You must visit the base Youth Center to enroll in the program. Once enrolled, youth can log points at home or from any computer with internet access.
