Travis Airman receives confinement, bad conduct discharge Published Feb. 5, 2008 By Staff Judge Advocate 60th Air Mobility Wing Legal Office TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- A Travis senior airman was sentenced to reduction to E-1, confinement for four months and a bad conduct discharge in court martial proceedings here recently. The Airman, assigned to the 60th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, was charged with wrongful use of cocaine on more than one occasion, wrongful use of methamphetamine on more than one occasion and wrongful use of oxycodone, violations of Article 112a of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The maximum punishment for these offenses is reduction to E-1, forfeiture of two thirds pay for 12 months, 12 months confinement and a bad conduct discharge. After testing positive for cocaine and methamphetamine on a random urinalysis, the member again tested positive for cocaine two weeks later. In a statement to security forces, the member also admitted to wrongfully using oxycodone. According to the 60th Air Mobility Wing Legal Office, the member will serve time in jail and receive a bad conduct discharge from the Air Force, meaning that the member will not receive many Veterans Affairs and will have difficulty obtaining federal or state government employment in the future. Members of the Travis community should remember that wrongfully using illegal substances is a serious offense and will be dealt with appropriately.
