Ashley Peterson AFOSI Joint Force Protection Team TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Many military members and civilians are familiar with a local neighborhood watch program, but many don't know that there is a base program specifically aimed at keeping those that live and work on military installations safe. The Air Force Eagle Eyes Program helps to educate military and civilian personnel, family members and the surrounding community on identifying and reporting suspicious or possible terrorist activity. The program came about after 9/11 and educates the military and civilian community to serve as the eyes and ears for this program. Some indicators of possible terrorist activity include the following: - Military affiliated personnel being questioned about military operations - Trying to gain unauthorized access to our installation - Observing personnel or vehicles entering or leaving military facilities - Increased anonymous telephone or electronic threats - Foot surveillance - Individuals taking pictures or video taping the installation gate and or flightline When filing a report always give the location the suspicious activity is occurring. Write down a vehicle's year, make, model and tag number if necessary. If possible, a facial description can also be taken. Individuals may report suspicious activity to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Security Forces and local and federal police.
