North Gate to close for repairs

TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. --  The North Gate will be closed Oct. 9 through Oct. 12 for maintenance and repairs on the road barriers. 

Oncoming and outgoing base traffic will be rerouted through Tunner Drive and follow a detour through housing to Burgan Avenue. 

Drivers should use caution when driving through base housing, explained Marc Glover, 60th Civil Engineer Squadron. Travel delays should also be expected when traveling onto and off base during road construction, he added. 

There will also be construction on the Main Gate barriers through Oct. 26. One lane will remain open for entrance to and exit from the base. 

At no time will the Main Gate be closed. 

As the Tunner Drive detour runs through base housing, drivers should watch out for children and keep their speed at 15 mph.
