Volunteers are needed for the Kids Understanding Deployment Operations and Teachers Understanding Deployment Operations event, scheduled for Oct. 3 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

"KUDOS" and "TUDOS" is a Travis Integrated Delivery System initiative and is sponsored by the 60th Services Squadron's Family Members Program flight.

Military families will be invited to attend a mock deployment featuring a C-5 walk-thru, demonstrations, a visit to Base "X" and other fun activities.

"We still need volunteers to help with set-up Oct. 2 from 8 to 11 a.m., as well as assistance for take-down Oct. 3 and 4," said Shenethia Carter, 60th Services Squadron

Lt. Col. Oscar Vaughn, 60th SVS commander added that he would like military members to volunteer because it gives them a great opportunity to interact and tell their story to the people who, figurative and literally, look up to them.

"Each of us who has ever deployed goes through their own stages of handling the situation" he said. "From our shared experiences ,we hope the children understand why it is vital their parents deploy. In this threat-free environment, we allow them ample time to ask questions to better understand the process in their own minds and allow them an opportunity view some of the equipment used as well as other activities that occur during deployment."
