15th AMOS prepares for combat employment readiness exercise Published Aug. 10, 2007 By Capt. Kristen McCabe 15th Air Mobility Operations Squadron TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 15th Air Mobility Operations Squadron is gearing up for U.S. Forces Korea's largest annual combined warfighting exercise, Ulchi Focus Lens. UFL began in 1975 and has evolved into the world's largest computerized command and control exercise. This annual training exercise combines forces from all branches of the U.S. military and provides an opportunity to work with their Republic of Korea counterparts. The focus of UFL is on the strategic, operational and tactical aspects of military operations. Participants exercise joint and combined strategies to execute the operational plan for the defense of the Republic of Korea. "The exercise also demonstrates the U.S. commitment to the South Korean-U.S. alliance that stretches back to the Korean War," said Maj. Michael Shavers, 51st Fighter Wing Public Affairs. More than 60 personnel from the 15th AMOS, as well as members from the 615th Contingency Response Wing, are augmenting the Air Mobility Division that was recently created within the Combined Air Component Command in the Republic of Korea. They will also be joined by members of the 21st AMOS from McGuire Air Force Base, N.J. Members from 36 different career field specialties are conducting the employment and ability to survive and operate assessments, which contribute to their operational readiness inspection. "Our professional warriors are well prepared and working hard to ensure global mobility operations are safe and highly effective," said Lt. Col. Laura Lenderman, 15th AMOS commander. "Our team is eager to demonstrate its professionalism and technical expertise." UFL will also be a component in the 615th CRW's first Operational Readiness Inspection, scheduled for October.
