Question: I am currently on active duty at Travis but live in Vacaville. I applied for my child to attend school in the Travis School District and was put on a waiting list. After a few more questions, I found out that you don't have to be military affiliated to be in the TUSD. Shouldn't the TUSD be primarily for military members instead of being waitlisted behind civilian children?

Answer: The Travis Unified School District covers Travis Air Force Base, some city sections of Vacaville and Fairfield, as well as other parts of Solano County. The school district is comprised of eight centers, some of which lie within the base confines.

It is the district's policy to place the children of active duty military personnel assigned to Travis in a higher priority placement category. Priority consideration will be given to the children of parents/guardians who work for TUSD, dependents of active military personnel and students who are already attending TUSD who move out of the district.

All transfers are based upon space availability, and TUSD has been very successful at placing children of active duty military personnel assigned to Travis.
