Commander's Action Line: Lower the volume Published March 6, 2007 By Tailwind Staff 60 Air Mobility Wing Public Affairs TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Question: Does Travis have a policy/regulation in place that restricts how loud an individual's car stereo can be while on base? Answer: Thank you for your question. I too am annoyed by people who blast their music in vehicles. Travis enforces the California Vehicle Code, which vehicle noise falls under. The CVC specifies that, "no driver of a vehicle shall operate, or permit the operation of, any sound amplification system which can be heard outside the vehicle from 50 or more feet, unless that system is being operated to request assistance or warn of a hazardous situation." Since our Security Forces personnel are not always in the immediate vicinity to detect these infractions, if you see or hear offenders, please obtain the offender's license plate number, vehicle description, location, direction of travel and report it to Security Forces at 424-2800 as soon as possible so they can take appropriate action. By identifying and calling in these infractions, you will help us create and maintain a safer and more secure community. To submit a question to the Commander's Action Line, call 424-3333.
