The commander has invited all base residents to participate in a town hall meeting to discuss housing security, the current and future state of base housing as well as base community citizenship.

Col. Steve Arquiette, 60th Air Mobility Wing commander encourages base housing residents to attend the meeting scheduled for March 1starting at 6:30 p.m. in the base theater.

"It's important for wing leadership to personally meet with the base community to discuss some significant milestones happening in the near future and how we can work together to build a better and safer community on Travis," Colonel Arquiette said.

Some of the main topics on the agenda will be the changes in base housing, covering the pending plan for housing privatization and what it means to residents, the on-going demolition of some of the older housing units, as well as what lies in the near future for base housing residents.

"We have a lot to look forward to when it comes to the future of our base housing," he said. "This is a dynamic time for our base residents and I know there are a lot of questions and uncertainty as to what the plan is. One of my goals is for everyone to leave the meeting with a better understanding as to what to expect, as well as how they can help make Travis a better place to live and work."

Another area that Colonel Arquiette will highlight is the overall base housing security.
"We have a unique community here on this base," he said. "Unfortunately, it only takes a small handful of instigators to cause a lot of problems for our families."

Finally, the concept of positive community citizenship will be addressed and how individuals can make a difference.

"A safe and secure base community is a top priority of mine and fostering
positive community citizenship is essential to that," he added.

For additional support, a variety of base organizations will have informational booths set up in the rear of the theater. Scheduled to have booths are: Defense Commissary Agency, Sexual Assault Response Coordinator, Travis Integrated Delivery System, Chaplain, Diamond Council, Youth and Teen Center, and the Airman and Family Readiness Center.

Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. The meeting will last about one hour and consist of comments by Colonel Arquiette, Chief Master Sgt. Michael Williams, 60th Air Mobility Wing command chief, representatives from the base housing office and our Security Forces team.

The meeting will wrap up with a 15-minute question and answer session.

To assure all questions and concerns are addressed, forms for base housing residents to fill out will be made available since not everyone may have the opportunity to ask their question or they may not be comfortable asking their question in a public forum.
