The 2007 basketball season continued Jan. 30 as the 60th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron defeated the 60th Aerial Port Squadron 28-21.

The 60th AMXS, lead by shooting guard Brandon Chavez and power forward Hunter Meadors, opened the game with a 10-0 run.

Using aggressive defense and timely steals, the 60th AMXS held the 60th APS scoreless until the final seven minutes in the first half when 60th APS' shooting guard Sherron DeBerry hit a two-point jumper, making the score 10-2.

The score was 16-6 in favor of the 60th AMXS at halftime.

After making much needed adjustments to their lineup and offensive schemes, the 60th APS did manage to battle back.

On the strength of point guard Gregory Barrera's four points and small forward Lucas Choate three points, the 60th APS opened the second half on a 8-4 run, making the score 20-14 with 10 minutes left to play.

However, the 60th APS never got within three points of taking the lead, as the 60th AMXS, using a half-court press defense, capitalized on 60th APS' numerous turnovers and poor shot selections to take a 28-21 win.

In other action, the 573rd Global Support Squadron's G-Unit defeated the 60th Security Forces Squadron 50-38.

The 60th Communications Squadron defeated the 571st Global Mobility Squadron 42-33 and the Killer B's from the 615th Contingency Response Wing once again felt the sting as the 60th Medical Operations Support Squadron beat them 45-37.

The 60th Services Squadron was put on life support as the 60th Medical Support Squadron handed them a devastating 54-45 loss.

Rounding out this week's action, the Log Dawgs from the 60th Logistics Readiness Squadron kept their undefeated record intact, defeating the 60th Equipment Maintenance Squadron 37-33.

The season continues Feb. 5 as the 60th CS takes on the 60th Operations Support Squadron. The 60th SVS looks to rebound after their heartbreaking loss when they battle the 349th Civil Engineer Squadron and the 60th Security Forces Squadron will attempt to put the 60th Medical Support Squadron behind bars.
